Is it a Golden Wonder?

Another review from one of Lush's Christmas range. This time is the Golden Wonder bath bomb.

I love the idea that it's a gift - an outside with a little something inside. You can hear this when you shake it. It's a shimmery gold so I expected that to come off in the bath. I was also told it has colour changing blocks and tiny stars in it. It has a gorgeous perfume scent and contains cognac and orange oil - perfect for Christmas. It's a huge bath bomb which is always nice too. At £3.25 it's also a good price. As stated on the website, 'This isn't a bath - it's an event!' I am excited to try this one.

First off, the promise of stars didn't deliver - I was so disappointed! The water went this gorgeous teal shade and had gold glitter shimmering through it, so it was still super pretty. I also found the gorgeous scent disappeared which I was really bummed about. It has to be one of the best smelling bath bombs I have ever tried.

As with all Lush products, my skin was left feeling really nice and hydrated. The scent stayed on the skin just a little and the shimmer rubbed off quickly. I think  I'd buy one of these again just for the yummy smell of it. And next time, I want stars!

#blogmas. Day One.

So, you may notice this first post is a day late. I promise you it isn't. For some reason, Blogger didn't put it up on schedule so I've just done it automatically - sorry! I'm also going to stop doing my about me posts and my week in pictures posts this month as I think these will be enough for you.

I've seen a few posts on Twitter and blogger saying people are going to do this and I think it's a great idea. I have no where near enough confidence to do vlogs but I do like to blog about everyday life - not just beauty and fashion. I'm going to try my absolute hardest to do these posts everyday, but if there are  few sneaky day-late posts, don't shout at me!

Today was  busy day. We had the Trussell Trust Foodbank collection nationwide at Tesco. It was a huge success and there is still all day tomorrow to go yet. I am a volunteer at Foodbank and we give out emergency food for people in a crisis. We did our collection at the Tesco Extra in Burngreave, Sheffield. Tesco have been amazing through the whole thing, offering to help collect, sort, deliver and even store all the products we are given. And most importantly, they are going to give us an extra 30% on top of what we get from the public. We had an amazing time there and were made to feel very welcome. I did 9am until 1pm so it was long morning but it really was brilliant.

After I'd finished up, I headed out to do a little shopping - needed to treat myself! I picked up some amazing bits in Primark - can anyone say gold? There are some Black PU leggings in there too, under the gold ones. I'm going to do a haul post with this lot tonight as I think some of you will really love what I picked up. And who doesn't love a Primark haul, be honest? If I'm totally honest, I have no clue when I'm going to wear the gold leggings but they were £6 - the bad thing about Primark. I was thinking with a cream loose-knit jumper or an all black outfit, maybe?

I also went into Lush to pick up a few bits. They had sold out of my toner tabs and I almost cried. I really, really wanted to have a good steam. Sad face! But I did pick up loads of nice bath goodies for the cold nights. One or two were from the Christmas range so expect a review on those soon. I have to admit, I'd prefer to see a Christmas bag than this one. Where is the snow and fairies and all things pretty?

I made my favourite pasta dish last night - I don't know where the picture has gone, sorry! It's just plain pasta, bacon all cut up and cucumber. I am well aware that it sounds boring as shit but it's really yummy. I used to eat it all the time and it went down a treat with a glass of Pinot after a hard day. I'm also looking after my parents' dogs this weekend so up late walking them, up early tomorrow to walk them. Sigh.

A Token to the Forest Gods! A Lush Review.

This week my standard, weekly trip to Lush was a little different to usual. I have a mega cold that will not shift - it's really running me into the ground. With huge thanks to the Lush Ladies, I still got some yummy  (or so I was told) smelling things for this week. While I was checking out, a lady came up to me and asked if I used the Toner Tabs. The answer to this was no. I have super sensitive skin and toner is the thing that really burns my skin. She ran off and brought me a single tab of A Token to the Forest Gods. She told me to use it as a steamer and it will ease my cold! Fabulous, I thought and because they are only one pound, I see no reason to not give it a go.

And boy, am I glad I did. I have a new obsession. The description on the label said, 'When dropped into a bowl of hot water, this tab will fizz into the water and steam will lift the beneficial blend of essential oils for you to steam your face. When the water has cooled, you can use cotton wool or a flannel in the water to wash away traces of cleanser or dirt from your face, neck and chest.' Which is exactly what I was told by my Lush Lady - use to steam your face then you can keep the water for 3 days to use as a toner.

When I steamed my face, it definitely helped lift my cold. It made my blocked nose a runny nose - sorry! But after I did feel it was easier to breathe and my sore throat really eased too. It left my skin feeling soft and plump afterwards and the smell was beautiful - yes I could even smell by the end of the steam!

The toner I was a little apprehensive about using but I thought I better try it, even if I do have a bad reaction. But no, it hasn't affected my skin at all! It left it feeling cool and cleansed and it looked really good too. It's gentle around the eyes too - another problem of mine. The only tiny downside is that the toner doesn't have much of a smell so you lose the yumminess of the steam.

It's Christmas! Lush said so.

It's that time of the year again where it really does start to feel like Christmas. It's not even Halloween yet and places are starting to fill up with gift ideas, lights and of course the Christmas cosmetics. A lot of the make up collections are due out at the beginning of November but Lush are one of the first to bring back their legendary Christmas products.

I love Lush bath products but I've never been the most adventurous. I like Godmother soap and The Comforter bubble bar but as of late I've been pushing myself to try new products. So I was having a scope around when this product really caught my eye, mainly because of how cute is it.

Yes, it's Father Christmas - literally. A bath ballistic which is described on the website, ' Take a cheery bath with Santa. Once you pop this sparkling red Father Christmas in your tub it will turn your bath from bright red to vivid green and fill your bathroom with a sensual and uplifting satsuma fragrance.' And I have to agree with everything it's said. The smell before in the bath is only just there, it has that very faint Lush smell but nothing too special. When it's placed in the bath (and turns bright green!) the smell is almost too overpowering but it settles and is gorgeous. The red glitter on the face of the ball settles and floats on the top of the water and it looks so pretty. There was a very slight glitter residue on the skin but it did wear off just after. The smell of the product didn't hold onto the skin but I like that in a product.

As most of the Lush products, it's a very good size and costs just £3.25. It would make an ideal gift or is great just as a little pick-me-up.

I also bought a small chunk of my Godmother soap and look how cute the Christmas wrapping is, I adore it!
